THEMBINKOSI hails from a small town of Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape Province.

He started his musical career, in 1994, doing choreography, playing keyboards, composing and arranging some of the songs for the Bantu Church of Christ Musical Group at the age of 14.   
 

With the release of the “third album” with the Bantu Church of Christ produced by the legendary Sizwe Zako during the error of 1996, he started being involved in leading some of the songs as a leading vocalist and those songs became hit songs. The album was co-produced by Rebecca Malope, Jabu Nkabinde and the late Vuyo Mokoena. The three albums with the group became a success which drew attention of the Directors from CCP\EMI Records. Mike Maswanganyi and Orak Shabangu from CCP promised Thembinkosi a recording deal upon completion of matric.

Immediately, after his matric year, he migrated to Johannesburg to further explore and advance his talent for singing. In the period of 1998 to 1999, he featured in numerous musical performances rendered by the Soldiers of the Cross, Lundi Tyamara, Kholeka Dubula, Manzimtoti as a (pianist, choreographer and a vocalist) as well as for numerous recording artists.
 

In 2000, Thembinkosi, signed a recording deal with CCP\EMI Records and that resulted in launch and the release of his “first”album in solo titled “Thembelenkosini” featuring the hit track uSathan’üJamp’amaFence and that sold more than 50 000 units.  With this wonderful and unusual lyricized album Thembinkosi worked with a number of talented individuals such as the likes of the great Sipho Mbele, Peter Mokoena and Robby (uyintsimbi) Malinga.

On his second album released in 2001, Rebecca Malope offered to produce the album and feature in one of the songs “Mbonge” which was co-produced by Jabu Nkabinde. This culminated in the release of the third album titled “Ziyaduma” which was released in 2002 under the same recording label.
 
Thembinkosi was humbled when approached to be part of the collaboration that combined South African Musicians (All Stars) to sing 1 Christmas carol titled “Silent Night”. The collaboration consisted of Rebecca Malope, Tsepo tsola, Ringo Madlingozi, Avante, Queen (Haze) the late Brenda Fassie, the late  Vuyo Mkoena and many more.    
 
At the beginning of the year 2003, he signed with MMM Records and released his fourth album titled “Thembinkosi”, which was launched in 2004. In this album he has worked with the big guns the likes of Mbongeni Ngema who blessed the album with a hit song (Shwele baba), Sizwe Zako and Loaf “Loeaftazz” Khoza as producers. The album became a success because of the song “Hlohonolo Fatsa”, which received fair airplay in Radio Stations and Television.
 
Thembinkosi’s music was well received in and outside of the country as he started visiting neighbouring states such as the Kingdom of Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Congo, Lesotho, Botswana and more, accompanied by South African gospel stars namely:- Sipho Makhabane, Lundi Tyamara, the late Vuyo Mokoena to name but a  few. He has also worked with artists from neighbouring states like Ivy Kombo, Fungisay and others from Zimbabwe. Mzwakhe Myeni of (Ncandweni Ambassadors  gospel group) , Gospel Explosion from the Kingdom of Swaziland.
 
In 2005, Thembinkosi launched his own independent recording label, “Jampa’maFence Records” and with the help from an old friend Sabelo “Subside” Simelane who hails from Swaziland Thembinkosi then released his fifth album in the year 2006 titled “UJes’untswempu” which was a resounding success.

 In 2009, he recorded his sixth Album titled to “To die no more” which was released in the year 2010. After  his divorce with his wife, he then took a break to focus on assisting young and upcoming artists in and outside  South Africa.

 

In 2011, he started recording his master piece and due to popular demand he had to pause on the master piece project and serve his fans with yet another album titled “Ikhon’indaba” for 2012 release and to be launched towards the end of the year.


The album “Ikhon’indaba” has subsequently been released in South Africa  without management supervision from Jumpa’ma Fence Records and has been in various national gospel charts since the end of 2012.
